Church Services Gulf Gate Church - Sarasota, FL

At Gulf Gate Church, we know that teenagers need a place where they can connect with friends in an environment that's challenging, exciting, accepting, and fun. A place where they can discover the purpose for their lives and find out how they can make a difference in this world.

Maybe you wonder if there's more to life than just getting up every day, going to school, playing the "how-can-I-be-accepted-today?" game, doing a pile of homework, and then going to bed - only to do the same thing tomorrow?

Well, we've got some great news... there is more! That's why Gulf Gate Church hosts Youth Group for middle school and high school students.

Wednesday Evenings
Middle School meets from 5:30 to 7pm.
Everyone enjoys dinner together from 6:15 to 7pm.
High School meets from 6:15 to 8pm.

(Youth also meet Sunday mornings at 9:30am)

Whether you are in high school or middle school, we offer exciting ways for you to connect with other teens and to share in experiences that shatter the stereotype that church is boring.

Being a student has its share of challenges. But being a student also means you get to go to Youth Group! What could be cooler than that!

Youth Ministry Philosophy

We base our Youth Ministry on the foundational tenets of the Christian faith. We affirm the basic beliefs that are clearly taught in the Bible, without being dogmatic about controversial and secondary matters.

Becoming a fully devoted follower of Christ is a lifelong process. We believe that kids learn best:

  • When they're having fun. That's why we encourage exciting and active games and activities.
  • When they're taught by teams of gifted adults who care. We emphasize team leadership both for the teachers' benefit (to maximize enjoyment and effectiveness, and minimize burnout), and for the kids (so they have a variety of models and examples).
  • When the truth is presented in creative, and age appropriate ways. We try to be sensitive to their learning styles and developmental stages in all we do.
  • When their parents are involved. That's why we want to encourage parents to volunteer, and why we'd like for parents to stop by and say hello before and after Youth Group.
  • When the goals of their spiritual education are clear. That's why we keep the same standards for every person as they grow in their faith.

Opportunities for Adults

One of the best ways to get involved and grow in Gulf Gate Church is to get involved with our Youth Group. There are many benefits to becoming a volunteer:

  • You meet new people, and develop a team spirit with the other leaders.
  • You learn as you teach. In fact, the teachers always learn more than the students.
  • You develop your gifts and leadership abilities.
  • You experience ministry, and have a meaningful impact on kids' lives.

If you'd like to volunteer, or inquire about volunteering, there are many levels of involvement possible, depending on your background, experience and confidence. Call Matt Clippard at 302-4924.
